Re: Timelapse software

I had a battery go flat during a timelapse on my EM5 mk1. I swapped battery between frames as soon as it ran out. And it just continued on to the end without a hiccup, amazingly.

Fortunately I...

Re: What software for photo editing?

Which is why I mentioned Digikam DAM. So people can find out about the alternatives for managing large collections. And not just get the only one they've heard of.

Re: What software for photo editing?

Yes avoid proprietary formats. There should be no need to be 'locked in' to any companies format. Which is the benefit of open standards and software. And then you are no longer reliant on some big...

Re: What software for photo editing?

I think it's important that people are aware that there is quite a choice of options available, and not just Adobe stuff.
Reading the forums, it appears that some people seem to believe that you...

Re: What software for photo editing?

Many use ACDSee, Serif Photo Plus, Paint.Net/Pinta, LightZone and others.

I use Digikam to organise, as it is a very comprehensive manager (DAM) and do quick edits. And Digikam opens pictures in...

Re: why the camera is not being used lately

We're just -2 and snow here in Munich. I wear my skiing gloves on my bicycle these days. But you have to take them off to operate the camera and the touch screen.

Re: Resizing and uploading photos

There is a thread explaining the Flikr method on here somewhere.

Edit: Here we go:
-In Flickr, open up your chosen picture
-Click on the 'Share' button. It looks like a curved arrow pointing to...

Re: Does anybody use DeNoise software?

I occasionally use the de-noise settings in Raw Therapee. Which is part of my workflow and not in a separate program that costs more, and doesn't run on my computer.

Re: Resizing and uploading photos

BMP files are not compressed. So they will be many times bigger in terms of file size (kb) than a Jpeg. I never create BMPs.

I think my mum used to be a Muslim. In all the pictures taken of her from that time, she always wore a head scarf.

No. The iPhone is a UK, US thing. Not here in mainland Europe.
But there is no shortage of shallow jerks and snobs. Munich is famous for it.

Ah I see. I'm a bit naive you see. But I live in BMW country. And the offspring get top of the range++ BMW, Porsche and Mercedes. And think they are special.

Back then, spyware meant a big coat and hat worn by Kim Philby.

And the only person doing HDR was Nicolas Parsons. Hesitation, Deviation and Repetition.

Re: Have you or are you thinking of going mirrorless with Micro Four Thirds?

I'm not sure what a m4/3 Sony AS7 would be, but a 4/3 ratio sensor with a FF lens would be much bigger and more useful than the current 3:2 full frame (panorama) sensor. There is a gap in the market...

Re: Have you ar are you thinking of going mirrorless with Micro Four Thirds?

I prefer to be free from carrying a bag around. I just have a belt pack for a spare lens/batter/filter. The camera with one lens is on a shoulder sling.

Coming from an OM-2 and OM-4, seeing the...

Re: Digikam and Gimp not seeing eye to eye

Yes. I have my EM5ii set to 'Raw + Jpeg' . If the exposure is tricky, I'll use the raw. Otherwise the jpegs are generally OK to use.

Re: U43 format - why 1/4 FF

1/4 of the whole long thin sensor. But about 1/33 of the useful 4/3 part. The FF sensor is a weird legacy shape that on average will not be fully used. Actually, FF lenses are capable of covering a...

Re: U43 format - why 1/4 FF

If you follow the 4/3 diagonal to the edge of a full frame sensor, it's more like 1/3 of the area and not 1/4. The remaining 25% of the long thin sensor is generally a waste, unless you need a...
