I know some will recoil in horror at this suggestion but...... Silicone G|rease or Silicone Spray Lubricant applied very carefully and thinly works wonders on plastic to plastic or plastic to metal....

For firmware updates you need to choose the logo of the camera attached to the pc not storage.

I prefer fast shutter speeds when doing running water, it shows what the water is actually doing rather than a smooth (ish) milky flow.
