Re: Un-Distorting Edges of Wide Angle Images

I'm surprised that the article in the link states that there's no Photoshop filter to do this.

I frequently use the Filter | Distort | Spherize - Horizontal Only menu to do exactly this! A...

Re: Another Orchid - "Dockrillia striolata"

I think that the last British Ghost (Epipogium aphyllum) was seen in Herefordshire in 2009, the previous sighting having been in 1982. There are sites in Switzerland where this species is...

Re: Another Orchid - "Dockrillia striolata"

Many thanks for your clarification. I use stacking frequently for my flower photos and find it very effective - worth a try, in my opinion, especially since you have all the relevant kit.

Re: MyOlympus updated terms of use

I actually read both versions  I copied them and laid them side by side to look for the differences.

Re: Focus Stacking

The 'focus differential' in the stacking menu relates to the depth of field for the lens setting in use. The individual focus steps are 1X, 2X, 3X etc of the depth of field calculated by the camera....

Re: Version 3 Stacking improvement

I usually use a tripod for this type of photography. I find that I need to have the camera fixed, while I manoeuvre the subject, to get the angle and the lighting as I want them. I often place the...

Re: Card slot settings..............

Same here - and if the little tab breaks off altogether, I cut a little sliver of plastic and super-glue that into the slot on the card.

Re: Tripod pricing error?

I don't know who owns the Rollei name nowadays but I notice this is actually by 'Fotopro'. The Fotopro FPH-420 looks extremely similar and is priced at 89.99 in black on Amazon.

Re: F Stop.............!!

Diffraction limiting of sharpness is a complex subject that depends on many factors, including pixel size and how the image is viewed. There are some calculations on the 'Cambridge in Colour'...

Re: Extended Warranties

I had quite a lot of trouble with my E-M1 Mk.i so was very pleased to receive a 3-year extension as part of the deal when I bought my Mk.ii.

I sincerely hope that the Mk.ii incorporates lessons...

That's not good news. If you think it is because something was left behind after all your removal efforts, I suggest you try using the Kaspersky Rescue Disk - but make sure you download it directly...

Re: The Compliant Admiral

Extraordinary shots! I'm not usually keen on flash shots of butterflies but the way the light has caught the blue scales is remarkable. How about having a go at stacking?

I believe that the E-M5ii battery is the same as that in the E-M1, for which there are plenty of reasonably-priced, fully-compatible spares. I have had no problems with ExPro batteries in my E-M1...

Re: Advice on lenses

My first Olympus kit contained the 12-50mm, the 40-150mm, and the 45mm f/1.8. This trio of lenses served me very well, until I found a need for something longer. You already have a 70-300mm, so...
