Re: Climate Change

This article in The Guardian is interesting, it scores each MP on their voting record based on 16 climate-related votes between 2008 and 2018:

Re: What broadband speed do you need?

You could also look at B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) who are rolling out high speed broadband to rural areas specifically:

I don't know much about them but they have...

Re: macOS update & compatability issues

The Epson issue is not confined to MacOS, every time a Windows 10 "Feature Update" is rolled out it deletes all my Epson software and drivers because they are "unsigned". This means having to delve...

Re: 'Go Advanced' not working!

You didn't do a quick ctrl+A ctrl+C the second time before trying "Go Advanced" again then? The longer the message the more frequently I copy it to the clipboard just in case :) *chr

Re: Plague on the planet

I'm not sure there are any 47s running scheduled services but they're very often seen on steam specials as a backup if the steam loco breaks down. Same applies to the 37s.

The visibility from the...

Re: Plague on the planet

I quite like old diesels as well, my concern was that anyone looking for steam info specifically might not look at a web site that appeared to be diesel-based! I particularly like the Class 43 (HST)...

Re: Virus scare.

Yes, once you leave feedback on eBay you can't change or delete it so I think it's wise to wait until you've made sure the product is OK in all respects before doing so.

Re: Boris Gate

I thought Mr Bercow had announced he would be stepping down as Speaker on October 31st or at the next GE, whichever came first. He will be much missed either way.

Re: What planet is this???

Lovely shots Chris. I can quite believe the colours having experienced similar myself. A bit of advice I got from Eddie Ephraums a long time ago - "when everyone else is shooting the sunset towards...

Let me know if you're coming Nigel!

There are regular weekly steam services on the S&C in the summer months. This web site can help, despite having "diesel" in its URL...

Re: Plague on the planet

The Station Master's house at Ribblehead is a holiday let. You can see (and climb) all Three Peaks from it and travel the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway which is right outside. There's a nice little...

Re: What broadband speed do you need?

So long as you don't all want to watch different movies at the same time you should be OK. The recommended minimum for BBC iPlayer standard quality (for example) is 1.5Mb/s, up to 5MB/s for HD.

Re: No-Deal Brixit: Insurance & Travel

Well, we are assured that a no-deal exit is illegal. Of course Johnson has form on law-breaking so I don't suppose that will worry the man who not long ago was assuring us that there was a million to...

Re: Plague on the planet

Striding edge has become pretty much like Oxford Street these days with crowds of people attempting it. The Three Peaks of Yorkshire suffer from endless charity walks in the summer meaning that...

Re: macOS update & compatability issues

Are you "obliged" to update MacOS the way you are Windows 10 or can you just decline the updates? iOS13 has just launched too and guess what? My iPhone 6 and iPad Mini 2 are not compatible with it,...

I've often wondered about these books you see with titles like "Undiscovered Britain" or "Secret Corners of the Lake District". Obviously, they are no longer so secret and often tourist attractions...

Re: Olympus Air A01

Please do, I'm interested as I've never come across the Air before. At first glance it doesn't look very ergonomic when it comes to hand-held shooting but I may be missing something!

Re: Analogue or Digital.

I saw Barclay James Harvest a few times back in the day. Known at first as "The Poor Man's Moody Blues", eventually John Lees wrote a rather good song with that title and which bore more than a...

Re: Household electricity costs

My first house had warm-air gas heating supplied by a device that looked like a tall dome with a burner underneath it - a bit like a metal hot-air balloon! There were no circulating fans, it relied...
