Re: Medicines Shortage

I'm not sure about medicines, but in the case of pesticides and antifouling paints, which I have experience of, HSE registration can be by precedent (a rubber stamping exercise) provided that none of...

He wouldn't shut up when he was told to either. *yes

There again, on the subject of broken promises, I am still waiting for Harold Wilson to keep his electoral promise to reverse the Beeching...

Re: Medicines Shortage

I don't think it works quite like that David. The cost of prescription medicines doesn't affect the GP's 'profit' as such, but the local health trust will have a budget for drugs which presumably...

Re: Medicines Shortage

We have just been talking about this and my daughter has mentioned that some drugs, whilst of the same formulas as human medicines, are only approved for veterinary use.

Re: Medicines Shortage

Medicines can be licenced to another manufacturer, which often happens when Big Brand no longer has an interest in manufacturing a product owing to low selling price, etc.

If the product is to...

Re: Medicines Shortage

Even the side effects of big brand medicines seem to vary between batches. I have noticed that some batches of Amlodipine, a very common antihypertensive, cause lower leg and foot swelling. This is a...

Re: Medicines Shortage

This is a long running problem which has been discussed on radio and television for a while now. I don't think there is any one cause, but a complex combination of causes including raw material...

Re: Is the Prince Andrew Photo fake?

I would submit that Mr Corbyn has made his wishes quite clear during public televised speeches in recent weeks, and by his own behaviour at state events.

His links with and support for terrorist...

Re: Is the Prince Andrew Photo fake?

I agree he didn't show a hint of empathy for anyone. I would like to think, and I am fairly sure his two brothers and sister would be a little more human in the same circumstances.

I am not sure...

Re: Is the Prince Andrew Photo fake?

I have to agree. Listening to an interview with a BBC journalist earlier today it sounded like a character assassination on 'that sort of person'.

It might have something to do with the fact that...

Re: Boris Gate

Maybe when legover is nationalised along with everything else we will need to complete and sign forms in sextuplet each time so we will probably all nod off before the act. :D

Re: Boris Gate

Yes indeed. I would rather have straight talking any day but most of our politicians seem to struggle with that concept today and simply repeat their party's current slogan ad nauseum.

I started...

Re: Yorkshire Flooding.

Spot on John. Our County Council is not just profligate and incompetent but corrupt as well. And these are the people who are telling us they should be running the country.

Edit: A few years...

Re: Yorkshire Flooding.

The BBC reports discussed the huge volumes of concrete being used to build roads, airport runways and foundation for those clean, green wind turbines.

Several wind turbines have caught fire near...

Re: Yorkshire Flooding.

I hadn't thought of the construction industry myself until I read an interesting report on the BBC website. I did post a link at the time but cannot find it at the moment.

From memory the...

Re: Yorkshire Flooding.

I find myself leaning towards the Lib Dems at the moment except for one proposal. They say they want to "resettle 10,000 child migrants per year", every year. That is in addition to adult migrants...

Re: Yorkshire Flooding.

Please send it to Australia. My brother and his wife live there and have loaded their car ready to evacuate. They need significant rainfall to damp down the bush fires but none is forecast for weeks.

They certainly do around here. One of the most prolific developers made an 'anonymous donation' of £500,000 to a major political party via a plumber in Newcastle. Needleless to say his planned...

Re: Yorkshire Flooding.

You mean concrete and Tarmac don't absorb rain water?

And does water run downhill to flood plains?

Has anyone told the Council Planning Department about this?

Re: Yorkshire Flooding.

If it is any comfort the flooding is quite localised to the Doncaster and North Derbyshire area. We have had a huge amount of rain here in the North East too but not enough to cause flooding. The...
