Re: Stuck SD Card

OK, so I thought I'd update this story with an incredibly happy ending...

After a slight mixup with the Olympus address my camera was picked up last Friday and despatched to Portugal. Yesterday I...

Olympus Repair Address changed

I logged a call with Olympus a few weeks ago about repairing my E-M5, and they gave me a DHL owned address to use in Nottingham. I posted the camera off this week and it came back 2 days later as...

Re: Movies and YouTube

I think the video looks fine on youtube once you up the playback to 1080p. It struggles a bit when you pan over the massive rig of still cameras but that is to be expected.

As a rough rule of...

Re: Introduction to video using a stills camera

@Ian - have a look at my reply in another thread in this sub-forum re. using 1/50 shutter speed in video, it will sort out flicker indoors

Re: 30fps and PAL

My understanding is that the flicker in artificial light is not related to the fps of the video being taken. It is actually related to the shutter speed used in the footage.

UK electricity runs...

Stuck SD Card

I've had a bit of a problem tonight - my SD card seems to be stuck in my E-M5. It springs out like normal when you press it in, but then only pulls out a few more millimetres before feeling stuck.

Re: EM-5 Batteries Like Airshows

I get similar results. My theory is taking pictures doesn't take much battery. The main impact is having the LCD or EVF on, so it's more a matter of how long you have it turned on, which is similar...

Re: Using the Olympus OM-D to shoot birds in flight

The main issue with 9fps is you lose image stabilisation and the ability to continuously focus. So if shutter speed is high enough and you are using single shot focus you will be fine. I use it...

Re: Couple of questions

Dave that's what I did at the RIAT airshow. Back button assigned to focus leaving the shutter button to take the picture. I combined this with a play with a depth of field calculator - when...

Re: Olympus event - Giffords Circus, Frampton-upon-Severn on Friday 2nd August 2013

Will there be OM-Ds available to try out? I've always felt mine underexposed a bit and would love to have a side by side comparison of one, since I've never seen another one in the real world despite...

Re: Olympus event - Giffords Circus, Frampton-upon-Severn on Friday 2nd August 2013

Yay, just got mine. Need to work out how to get there now, only an hour from work so I might be able to squeeze it into a longish day without taking any holiday

Re: Happy birthday and lens hoods

JJC it is then, thank you everybody for your advice and kind wishes.

The lens arrived today, wonderfully small and light compared to my previous Canon 100mm macro. Took a few test photos with...

Happy birthday and lens hoods

I woke up today to a nice happy birthday mail from the forum which was nice. Being a special birthday (40th) my family all got together to and helped me buy the Olympus 60mm macro which will be...

Re: Live view on the computer

A few weeks back I used one of the included cables to hook my OM-D up to a TV and could see live view. Don't think it was an HDMI cable though, think it had a pair of RCA plugs on the TV end?

Re: E-M5 'Focus lock-on parameters' equivalent?

No such setting. Lenses with the L-Fn button (12-50, are there any others?) can have "AF Stop" assigned to this button. In theory you have to know when you are about to pan past a grandstand, but...

Re: Am I dreaming or what?

Stephen - I think its two settings:
1) LV Close Up Mode (Menu D) - Mode 2, retain zoom and also
2) Half Way RIS with IS (Menu C) - On

The first one keeps you zoomed in when you press the...

Olympus HLD-6 Grip for OM-D EM-5 (now sold)

Brand new, in box, still not opened. I got this as part of the pre-order deal for the OM-D, and I love the small size of the camera so much that I've not bothered to even open it to try it out (I'm...

Re: OMD Aftermarket Batteries

To followup my earlier postings, I went to the Air Tattoo in Fairford today. The first Expro battery lasted 320 shots. The second about 490. I can't complain at that, and I think the Olympus...

Re: OMD Aftermarket Batteries

One bonus with the Expro is the availability of a twin charger. In a camera where 2-3 batteries is a reasonable day's shooting it will make it much easier to charge up at night

Re: OMD Aftermarket Batteries

I ordered from Expro via Amazon.co.uk at 00:15 this morning. Because of the Air Tattoo this weekend I wanted them in a hurry so paid the extra 4 quid for express delivery. At 4:30pm I got a mail...

I cancelled 2 orders for the Olympus battery and bought 2x Expro plus the twin charger. SRS sent me a mail asking where I had got batteries from since Olympus UK had told them they would have none...
