Re: Medicines Shortage

This is a long running problem which has been discussed on radio and television for a while now. I don't think there is any one cause, but a complex combination of causes including raw material...

Re: Campus censorship Ďan epidemicí at UK universities?

I am very sorry to hear that Tram. how long ago was this?

I would expect that to be a traumatic experience at any time, only made worse by the CCTV footage. Grief can affect us all in strange...

Re: Campus censorship Ďan epidemicí at UK universities?

Tram, please will you desist from your threatening behaviour. There is no need for it.

Re: Campus censorship Ďan epidemicí at UK universities?

Jax, anyone who resorts to making derogatory or offensive remarks about skin colour is a racist. I am used to that. There is also an element of ageism involved in these comments.

I would take no...

Re: Em10 or EM5

Thank you for the information Wally. I have managed to find my way into the information screen. I must try this on my EM-1.

Mark, the E-M5 body is indeed a Mk 1 in black and reports 07562 shutter...

Re: Boris Gate

All accepted, but The Guardian remains a left-leaning newspaper. That much is acknowledged by the Guardian's own Editor but you just cannot see it.

I would aver that your lack of objectivity in...

Re: Boris Gate

C'mon Jim; I don't think by any stretch of the imagination the Grauniad could be described as 'in the centre of anything'. But don't just take my word for it:

Political stance and editorial...

Re: Boris Gate

Yes, it is an American journal. So what? We live in a multicultural and international world don't we?

I am happy to confess that I have written for American technical publications in...

Re: Boris Gate

I think you'll find the Pontiff is elected for life, just as our Monarch takes a vow to serve for life.

If you are looking for people, or groups of people to blame for covering up child abuse...

Re: Boris Gate

I stand by it, as do others. To quote FP:

Over a near 35-year career in the British House of Commons, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has never come across an anti-Western terrorist,...

Re: Boris Gate

Anyhow, I expect Comrade Corbyn will be absent from PMQ this week whilst he attends Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's funeral.

Re: External SSD drive

I am pleased to hear that yours is working well Keith.

There is a lot of talk about SSD's having a limited read/write life but I have had no problems. Some of mine have been in constant use for...

Re: External SSD drive

There is a free utility that you should download to keep the firmware up to date and perform regular maintenance. You can also choose to 'Over Provision' the drive so that a percentage is kept to one...

Re: External SSD drive

That would be a good plan, but if the machine doesn't have USB 3 sockets then you wouldn't gain anything in the way of speed.

Recent spinning hard drives are also quite quick for keeping data on....

Re: Copying DVD's to iMac

There are various apps available to 'mount' the contents of CD's and DVD's as logical drives on any internal hard drive. I think Handbrake is one of them. Once mounted the volume behaves just like a...

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

Not many. Most but not all were decommissioned by David Cameron's government shortly after coming to power. They were very expensive to run apparently (the camera bit cost £20,000 + and could only...

Re: What broadband speed do you need?

That small green box is not the Exchange, but the Cabinet, as in 'Fibre to the Cabinet'. The Exchange will be a bigger building, possibly some distance away.

The idea is that high speed fibre...

Re: Plague on the planet

According to Wiki, as of 2018 there were twenty-four Class 37 locomotives operation on the network with a further ten or eleven stored. Virgin Trains owns one of them for occasional use. There will...

Re: Plague on the planet

No it isn't OK in my book either, but I suppose it is poetic justice of sorts. *yes

My point is, we often see these people bleating on the television about their cancelled wedding expecting us to...

That is a very interesting article indeed, obviously written from an outsiders' point of view but with an anti-Western slant.

Reading a recent article by Sydney Williams on 'The End of Classical...

Re: Climate Change

That is interesting but I am not sure how accurate the information is.

North Sea crude is very light and of high quality, and is therefore ideal for producing lubricating oils, light fuel oils...

Re: Best AA Batteries

Re: Best AA Batteries

I like Henry's suggestion of a 6 Volt lithium ion battery with a solar cell to charge it. I presume it comes with some kind of charge regulator? If necessary it would be easy to provide a simple...
