Re: MyOlympus updated terms of use

I actually read both versions  I copied them and laid them side by side to look for the differences.

The new version is much longer because it has a large section under '11. Data...

Re: Focus Stacking

The 'focus differential' in the stacking menu relates to the depth of field for the lens setting in use. The individual focus steps are 1X, 2X, 3X etc of the depth of field calculated by the camera....

Re: Version 3 Stacking improvement

I usually use a tripod for this type of photography. I find that I need to have the camera fixed, while I manoeuvre the subject, to get the angle and the lighting as I want them. I often place the...

Version 3 Stacking improvement

V3 firmware brought an increase from 8 to 15 exposures when using in-camera focus stacking. I found this enhancement very useful when photographing a very 3-dimensional Toad Lily (Tricyrtis) flower....

Re: New territory for me - E-M1 shutter stuck!

Mine stuck and didn't respond to 'percussive maintenance' It was repaired by Olympus as just within its extended warranty. I then part-exchanged it for a Mk.ii - no problems with that, so far ...

My iPhone is my main backup but I also have my old E-M5 which has stood-in a few times when my E-M1 needed repair. No problems so far with my E-M1-ii though.

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Saturn is looking good in the Southern sky at present. It's nice to be able to take astro photos in reasonable warmth!

Re: Hi from Bedfordshire

Welcome from another one-time Pentax user (a Spotmatic from only 46 years ago), although I came to Olympus via Nikon DSLRs.

I do feel that Olympus missed a trick when they launched their 300mm f/4...

Re: Is the Olympus Camera Menu Complex?

I suggest that the Olympus menus are 'comprehensive' rather than 'complex'. There are so many things that can be adjusted, should you wish to. The difficulty arises because the function you want is...

Re: Tripod pricing error?

I don't know who owns the Rollei name nowadays but I notice this is actually by 'Fotopro'. The Fotopro FPH-420 looks extremely similar and is priced at 89.99 in black on Amazon.

Re: Opinions on Sony WF-1000X In-Ear Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones

Re: If Sensor Size Doesn't Matter, Why Buy a Bigger One?

The PF 300 f/4 came out just after I switched to Olympus and, when the Oly 300 f/4 turned out to be much larger and heavier, I wondered if I'd done the right thing!

I wish Olympus would embrace...
