Re: Why!!!!!!!!!!

I once heard a recording where the recipient was asked who supplied his electricity. He replied he got his supply from his neighbour who was away from home a lot.

My wife got a cold call the other...

Re: How not to choose a camera system.

I don't get the Lomography crowd who use film and seem to think that badly exposed, badly composed, unsharp photos with weird colours somehow makes an image a work of art.

Re: How not to choose a camera system.

If I remember correctly there are two versions of the Minolta MD 100mm Macro lens - an f3.5 and an f4. Both are supposed to be good lenses with the F4 having a slight advantage. It'll be interesting...

Not recently and not in any numbers so they're safe for the moment.

Re: In for the kill...

The film is well made and you have to admire the skill of the eagle but I just can't understand people who kill things purely for their own enjoyment.

Re: How not to choose a camera system.

Hi Steve. In recent years I've been buying up old film cameras and lenses mainly from Ebay and I've accumulated a fair amount of Minolta stuff. The X 700 is a fantastic camera and a delight to use...

How not to choose a camera system.

I wonder if anyone has got it "wrong" as many times as me when choosing a camera system. My interest in photography started about 50 years ago when my father let me use his Kodak 620 folder as he had...

Re: Starling

Fantastic image of a really beautiful bird. I often think if Starlings were rare instead of fairly common, everyone would be raving about how beautiful they were instead of tending to view them as a...

Re: For Sale 7-14mm f/4 pro lens

I received the lens today and it's everything I hoped it would be and exactly as described. Steve was very easy to deal with and his communication was excellent. I can recommend him as a seller...

Re: The Chimenea: Montezuma's Revenge!

There's an old golfing joke which says that if you're caught on the course in a thunder storm you should take out your 1 iron and hold it in the air because even God can't hit a 1 iron.

Re: A close encounter of the otter kind

What a wonderful story and fantastic images. Tame otters are not unknown in your neck of the woods with the Gavin Maxwell connection. My wife, who comes from Port William tells me that he used to be...

Re: Socks

You can probably guess from my forum name that I've been involved in greyhound racing over the years. Some of the folk in it (not all) can be quite hard and this true story illustrates the point. I...

Re: Who will YOU vote for???

Just before the Salmond/Darling debate, the talk here in Scotland was that Salmond would win hands down. In fact some SNP supporters were apparently hoping that Darling wouldn't get such a doing that...

Re: Spoof emails...

I'm afraid my wife fell for this one. The main reason she was hoodwinked was because the credit card linked to her paypal account was about to expire, so it sort of made sense. Luckily (depending...

Re: Olympus 12-60 - 249.99 from LCE!

LCE are always worth a look. I've been able to buy a number of items for less than the going rate on Ebay - and you get a warranty.

Re: A wee dram from holiday

Being a Scot, it is probably unusual that in my 60 years, until New Year this year I had never tasted whisky. I was given a bottle of Strathmill as a present and it seemed a pity to let it go to...

Re: Rare and unprotected

It's amazing how once common cars just suddenly disappear. It makes you wonder where the classic cars of the future will come from. The Fiat Tipo was once very common but I can't remember when I last...

Re: Rhodes it is.....

Nice record shots for you to look back on in years to come. Looks like a very pleasant place to be and what strikes me is that the streets look spotless - no litter anywhere.

Re: Should I chop my dog's ear off?

Now that's what I call clever. Greyhounds' ears are not meant to stick straight up like Sandy's do so you've actually made him a better class of dog!. Apparently he was hopeless as a racing dog and...

Re: Should I chop my dog's ear off?

To be honest, the original picture was just a grab shot. My main camera is my E3 but I tend to leave my Nikon V1 lying around on the off chance that something crops up and this was just that - a...

Re: Sunset on the beach

You have really nailed how to do this kind of photograph. I would have been delighted if I'd taken any of them. It seems a great location but you really bring out the best in it.
