Revised e-group hire price list

Remarkably, it is three years since we started the Olympus camera lens and accesory hire service here on the e-group.

With the steady addition of new Micro Four Thirds lenses and camera bodies the old price list had become fragmented and confusing. Now everything is in one document:

E-group hire price list as of 1st December 2012

At the same time, although we have put this off as long as possible, we have increased our prices for the first time. We have tried to minimise the percentage rise for more valuable items and in recognition of the patronage our existing customers we have a special offer for them running until the end of January for new bookings placed for hires planned for any time in the future.

We still believe that Olympus hire through us is excellent value for money compared to commercial hire prices for other brands of camera gear in the UK. And we are pretty much unique in offering this service in the UK. Don't forget that we also hire out gear to clients abroad - contact us for details.

For the UK and Eire specifically, don't forget that you can reclaim the cost of the minimum 3-day hire if you buy the same item or items within one month of the hire - from a genuine Olympus UK-supplied dealer, so you can try before you buy.

There is also a new hire page on the site with basic information and advice - you can find it here:

http://e-group.uk.net/hire/hire_info.php

Besides providing a service that hundreds of clients have found useful over the last three years, the revenue generated help us to continue running this site and keep it free of ads.

If you have never thought of hiring camera gear before - it can make a lot of sense. What about the top of the range Zuiko Digital 300mm f/2.8 super telephoto - 120 for 3 days, or an infra-red converted Pen E-PL1 for 39. Or maybe a Zuiko Digital 70-300mm f/4-5.6 for only 15 over three days. Fancy trying the m.Zuiko 45mm f/2.8 - that's only 17.45 for three days. These prices include VAT but not shipping.

We will soon have the new m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8 available and we can already offer the new m.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 macro. And of course we can supply camera bodies and accessories too - for example, hire a lens and get 20% off a camera body.

If you have any questions, just let us know. Advice on choosing the best lens for your needs is of course just part of the service!

Great to see how much Micro Four Thirds equipment is now available for hire, as well as the full set of Four Thirds lenses, of course. In particular it's a great opportunity to try some expensive primes for MFT, such as the 12mm f2, 75mm f1.8 and (soon) the 17mm f1.8.

it's a shame the one lens I want to try before I invest the funds is the one that's missing (the 9-18mm M.Zuiko) - is there a reason for this Ian or is it a sign that the new version is on it's way soon...*susp

Ooops - sorry; that was a mistake. It has been corrected. This is one of our most popular lenses.

You may find the corrected price list may not show up easily so it might be best to right-click and download the pdf.

Apologies again,

Ian

As a newb to the forum and just finding my way around, can I just say what a fantastic idea this is.

I can definitely see me using this service.

Fantastic idea, an opportunity to use a potential new system (change from Pentax) where will be used as opposed to the inside of a shop

The hire fee will be a wise investment.

Is there any news of when the 12-40mm f2.8 ZUIKO Micro Four Thirds Lens will be available to hire, and how much it will cost to hire?

This is probably the wrong place to ask, but is it likely that other 'professional' lenses will follow for the Micro Four Thirds system, as it would be handy to know before investing in glass with smaller maximum apertures?

Lenses aren't expected until November at the earliest, unfortunately. E-M1 kits wit the 12-50 will arrive first. I don't yet know the cost but as soon as I have figures I will update the price list.

The Olympus road map indicates a super wide angle zoom and a long telephoto for next year, as well as the announced 40-150 f/2.8.

Thank you Ian. That 40 ~ 150 f2.8 looks very tasty indeed, although probably a lot bigger than the 40 ~ 150 f4.0 ~ 5.6.

A quick thanks to Ian & Julia for the speedy service on my recent hire of the 9-18mm wide angle. The hire price was really reasonable & the service received was excellent. I will defiantly be using the service again.

There is speculation in here about a 1.4x teleconverter, but what about a 2x teleconverter? That might make an interesting hand holdable combination for those wishing to reach small wildlife who could not afford or would want a more specialist single use prime.

Is there a more recent Hire List ? One with the EM1 on ?
And maybe the 12-40 // 40-150 PRO lenses ?
All I can find is an Aug 2013 list - maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
