Peru, Ecuador and Galapagos
In September I will be going to the above for 2 1/2 weeks. I have an E620 with grip, an E500 and the 14-45 & 40-150 I got with the E500. In a couple of weeks I will be getting a 12-60 (B/day present). I have raised a fair amount of money selling off my old Pentax film equipment. I am not really into nature photography in a big way as are some on here. I am thinking of buying a 50-200 does this make sense or would I be better off with a 70-300. If there is anybody out there whohas done a trip like this do they have any advice on equipment, picture taking or anything

Hi I have the 70-300 and for the price is well worth it but can be a bit slow in focusing ,the 50-200 is a pro one splash and dust proof hence the price and swd for focus so should be quicker, you could hire one first to see how you go and get some (7 days) of the hire fee back if you buy one, wish i could :)

I think you will definitely need a long lens for the Galapagos nature shots.

I can't comment on the 70-300mm lens but if you have the cash I would suggest the 50-200mm as it is a superb lens and very quick focusing. Buy the best you can afford and maybe supplement the 50-200mm with a Teleconverter at some point.

I've never been myself, but I know Jens Birch has. He doesn't post on here but see one of his threads Here on fourthirds photo.

He's also a member on fourthirds-user, but only has one post, so might not be monitoring PMs there.

Have a wonderful time. (I can't find a smiley for jealous :) )
