'Eye-Controlled' focus.....

Just been reminding myself of Canon's Eye-Controlled focus from back in the day, film cameras then.
They dropped it for the transition to DSLR....shame....not technically possible I suppose.
But just think of it....controlling the focus point with ones eye....luxury.

Had exactly that on my EOS5, don’t actually remember whether or not it worked that well though.

A friend of mine had one of those - as I recall there were only around 3 focus points to choose among, and I had a lot of trouble getting it to work at all (I guess it might have had difficulties with my wearing specs).

I had an EOS 50E and the eye controlled focus was crap, but that might be because I wear glasses. It also featured a hyperfocal mode where you focussed on the nearest point you wanted to be in focus, followed by the furthest point; the camera would then calculate the necessary aperture and set the focus to the hyperfocal distance. On paper this was a fantastic feature, but it was also crap - totally unusable. Apart from this it was a reasonable camera.

The hyperfocus idea is one I have long wanted on Olys. I've had it on my wish list in various threads over some time. I can't believe that with modern tech it is that difficult. It's a little lazy I admit but another tool which some would find useful.
