EM-1 + 75-300mm II to the zoo

Brought the EM-1 + 75-300mm II combo to my local zoo. Glad to say that I love the handling and IBIS of the camera.

They don't look at all happy to see you...

The eye contact makes for very good animal portraiture and I love the expression of the ape.

Welcome to the forum !

How are you getting their attention?

Do you have a banana balanced on your head or is it just the new camera they haven't seen before...

Hi there Theanser!

I love your picture of the bat - how did you get it? The Bat house at my local zoo do not allow you to use flash photography (for the sake of the bats) and it is quite dark in there - equivalent to dusk but not quite totally dark. I've had some success with Infra red camera and flash (the zoo keepers will allow that as the bats can't see it) but your images look like they were taken in daylight.

Keep posting more great images like these and welcome to the forum!

Cheers,

Ralph.

Thanks Ralph.

The bat is actually inside an outdoor green house where you can actually get as close as touching them if you dare :D haha. I spotted this just about 500m hanging in front of me. Ya they were indeed taken in daylight

Hi there Theanser!

The bat house at the zoo I go to also has them close enough to touch, although you're asked not to - but they do fly into you from time to time! The bats are quite active because the bat house is lit to fool the bats that it is dusk - so bats in flight is a possibility, although it's not easy!

Thanks for posting the excellent extra pictures,

Cheers,

Ralph.
