Olympus Viewer 3 and Legacy lenses

Is there a way to add lens ID and aperture to the EXIF/IPTC file in Olympus Viewer 3?
I like using a legacy lens (for the challenge!), but of course the OV3 tells me "lens unknown" and "f-number unknown".
Does anyone else find this frustrating?
Looking forward to hearing any ideas.

Hi Pete and welcome to the group.

There is a way in OV3 to edit the IPTC file but you can only add the information in the form of a caption which may not be what you want.

If you go to the "TOOLS" drop down menu and select "OPTIONS" then "Advanced Settings" there is an IPTC Edit facility.

Alternatively you will have to use an external EXIF editor like XV132.

Hello and welcome to the forum

As already advised a dedicated exit editor is the best...

Thank you Graham and Peter for your prompt replies.
After much research, I haven't quite achieved exif editing yet. Now I'll be needing a course in Windows Command File programming (scripting)!
The exifer led me to geosetter, which led me to exiftool, which took me to metadata++, and I'm having a break from it for a while.
Thanks for your initial guidance!

Exiftool is very powerful and straightforward to use for the kind of simple changes your have mentioned.
You can change value(s) on all the images within a folder (and it's subfolders) with just one line of script once you have opened the command line window.

There is comprehensive help info including video tutorials & a forum accessible from the Exiftool website.

Also listed on the 'Resources' tab on this website is a Lightroom plugin called "LensTagger" which appears to do exactly what you require - for details see:
https://www.essl.de/wp/software/lens...htroom-plugin/

I realise this is not suitable for Olympus Viewer3, but then again if you are processing a serious number of images Lightroom might be a worthwhile step up on OV3 - at least you won't fall asleep waiting for your changes to take effect :)
