Converting from 4:3 to 3:2

I was looking to post on a site which would like pictures presented in 3:2 aspect ratio.

Does anyone know how I can do this and what are the advantages / disadvantages?

I have found something in Photoshop CS2 which refers to Pixel Aspect Ratio but not sure what this does.

Kind regards

Graydon

Well personally Graydon... I wouldn't bother posting wherever that is, as a photo is a photo, regardless of aspect ratio. If a composition looks good as a square image that's fine, if a composition looks good as 4:3 that's fine too.

Seems somewhat anti-Olympus to me.

Re: Converting from 4:3 to 3:2

3:2 is simply a cropration for your pictures

Oly takes 4:3 which means that the pictures are 4 units wide and 3 units high

The people in the competition want 3 units wide and 2 high

in PS you can set the crop box to 3000 pixels by 2000 pixels and that's what you get when you hit crop whatever size box you have drawn. You can have other values such as 3 in x 2 in and a pixels per inch value which givey you a more dynamic number of pixels

In more user friendly and sensible software you can set the ratio for the crop rather than a number of pixels or inches, but the results are the same

Thanks John, Re-reading the rules I think 4:3 is fine.

Thanks Andy for the explanation.
