  • Hello from Angelica

I got fed up with the escalating costs and the sheer impractical weight of full frame and medium format equipment and so a few days ago I decided give MFT (micro four thirds) a try. I bought a reconditioned Olympus Air A01 and a 45mm f/1.8 Olympus prime lens.
Although I live in New Zealand rather than the UK I like the look of this group and want to be part of a community like this.

I just want to try linking an image.... this is my full Olympus gear at the moment, but I have a Panasonic 100-400mm zoom lens on order and look forward to having a go at shooting wildlife from the hand.

      Re: Hello from Angelica

      Welcome.

I don't know of any other Kiwis on this site, but do know of at least three Australians. One in Victoria, one in New South Wales and one in Queensland (moi). Although most of the people on this site are Poms (predictably), they are very friendly, helpful and tolerant of the quirkiness (sp?) of the Antipodeans.

I remember briefly looking at the Olympus Air when it first came out.... Interesting concept! I decided not to buy one and wait and see what became of the concept. It looks like it may have been discontinued. Still, even if this is the case, you will still be able to use your micro 4/3 lenses on a suitable current camera, such as the Olympus OM-D series, which most of the members of this site appear to be using.

However, having said all of that, I would be most interested in seeing what type of images you manage to get out of your A01.

        Re: Hello from Angelica

        Thanks Larry.

I'm still exploring my new camera, and I know nothing about the different Olympus models. What attracted me is the ability to pop it in my hand bag and have it handy for unplanned photo opportunities.
I have been posting on my free Flickr account, but quite keen to read discussions that aren't tied to F4cebook.

Thank U for the link... I've downloaded it and it looks like it will keep me out of mischief for months as there is undoubtedly a lot of material there even if it isn't specifically for the A01.

I shall have to have a go with Google translate but initial impression is that it's just for iphone rather than the android phones I have.
There are links to the official web pages for the Software Development Kit, that sadly Olympus have removed from their site as they no longer wish to support it

                          I. also, have never heard of this little camera. It has 4/3's sensor, so might be an interesting camera to have in your pocket...………..
