  • Hi from South Wales

    Hi all

    Just purchased Olympus om-d e-m1 mkii , OLYMPUS 40-150mm 1 : 2.8 PRO LENS and 12-40 2.8 pro lens.

Mostly I have been a Canon user, but am looking for something lighter, I have read good reviews of this system so looking forward to using it.

(good evening to the non locals)

You're one of a growing band who are moving over I am sure that you will be pleased with the system - like anything there are lessons to learn, but you will find this a good place for advice and support

    Regards

Thanks Roy. When they're somewhere easy to visit it's great to be able to get photos of the fascinating animals (especially since we cared for an orphaned baby a few decades back).

                              Re: Hi from South Wales

                              Welcome aboard Roy.

I’ve only been here a few days but have already learned a bit. I also bought the same as you in January (plus the 1.4x teleconverter) and until last week my frustration with the awkwardness of the camera had grown so great that I was about to sell up. But then on one trip, it just fell into place.

As a result in the last week I’ve reinvested pretty heavily into the system: I’ve added the 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro, bought an additional E-M1 mk2 body (which came with the battery grip for zilch!) and purchased an additional three genuine BLH-1 batteries. On top of that I also bought a new TG-5 tough camera, not because it is Olympus but solely because it was the best camera I could find for snorkelling to replace my heavily used Ricoh/Pentax WG-4.

I also HIGHLY recommend another purchase I made a few days ago: a spiral-bound print of the full E-M1 mk2 user manual from http://www.camera-manual.com
                              Digicams:-
                              Pentax K5ii, 2 x Olympus OM-D E-M1 mk2 (one with HLD-9 battery grip), Oly Tough TG-5, Ricoh WG-4, Canon Digital IXUS105 plus underwater housing.
                              Lenses:-
                              Pentax 18-135WR, Pentax DA* 200mm f/2.8, Sigma 8-16mm (K-AF mount)
All three Olympus f/2.8PRO zooms plus MC-14 1.4x teleconverter).

                              Plus various 35mm OM bodies/lenses, Oly 35RC rangefinder, and half-frame PEN-FT body plus various lenses. MTO-11MC 1000mm f/10
