Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

Sorry I didn't manage to meet up with anyone Saturday at the photo show it was very busy. Got to Olympus stand just after 10am and joined an already long queue to wait to hand in my gear for check and clean waiting about 30 mins. Then later on had some trouble getting my camera back as they seemed to have somehow mislaid it! A brief hope that they may compensate me with an EM1X was lost when my gear was found and turned out to not have been processed but they fast tracked if for me just after 4pm. I could not complain - a free service and they were very busy - hopefully it was just me that was jinxed and nobody else had problems. Wildlife photo talks by Tesni Ward were enjoyable and also one on the Nikon stand by a chap called Moose Peterson. I succumbed to a new 40-150 f2.8 while waiting to get my camera back but not convinced show prices for that were better than online prices.

Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

Sorry I didn’t make the meet-up, but by chance beforehand I’d met 2 guys I knew from university and hadn’t seen for around 20y, so going for a coffee with them won out.
Moose Peterson is a star - no surprise with a name like that he Shoots Big Gear - I went to his Superstage presentation on aircraft photography, which was brilliant, although IMHO he overprocesses his images.
Tesni I agree was very good, as was Jay Dickman on the Oly stand. I also enjoyed Martin Parr, but especially Pete Souza (Barack Obama’s personal photographer throughout the 8 years of his presidency) who gave a superb talk that managed to combine fine documentary images with hilarity, insight and a lot of emotion.
I’d also add the wildlife photographers Bret Charman and Margot Gilligan (?).
I went to a few that were good on the imagery front, but extremely promotional: none on the Oly stand, while the winner of that competition was a rather @rsy street photographer on the Nikon stand who kept on implying the Z7 was the first to innovate with IBIS, focus peaking, WYSIWYG EVF and silent shutter
                Regards,
                Mark

Three old f@rts hanging off the side of cappuccinos. Not a pretty sight...
You’ll all just have to put up with my dulcet tones (better than the visuals, probably ).

It was good to chat to Mark Thakera, and I’m definitely up for a MC-20 related meet-up.
                    Regards,
