    Re: lens adaptors

I have an 4/3 adapter I bought off eBay to fit Tamron Adaptall lenses. Seems to work well in manual mode

      Re: lens adaptors

If you have a Four Thirds (FT) body, then you have a great range of high quality (mainly zoom) lenses available and afforable if you're prepared to buy used. They were categorised into 3 quality levels; consumer, high grade (HG) and Super High Grade (SHG). Most of the SHGs are ridiculously good and still very costly. In terms of quality the HGs are almost on a par with the M43 "Pro" lenses. (possibly a controversial claim)

The 50-200 (HG; 2.8-3.5) is superb, as is the (HG) 50mm macro, and the 12-60 (HG) which is my most common walk-around lens. If you want wider angle, the 7-14 (SHG, f/4) is again superb. The 35mm macro is also said to be very good. Unless you want primes, or don't like used, the FT range is excellent. You can also get high quality 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters for extening the range of the 50-200.

Adaptall lenses were designed to be used with specialist adapters. Some are very good lenses for their age (generally those with SP in the name are best).
AFAIK there were adapters made for all the common 35mm SLRs
They predate AF but when adapting lenses you usually loose AF anyway.

There are also T2 lenses around which have a M42x0.75 screw thread & are designed to be mounted 55mm from the sensor. These are also very highly adaptable, with adapters available for most mounts. Lens are still made with this mount but many of them are distinctly budget in design.
