I agree with Angelica but prefer the rendering of the fence and path in the first one. It looks a bit over exposed in the second.

To me it has to be the first. mainly because the second is a tad overexposed to me. This is the result of having a longer exposure in the second picture (1/250th vs 1/320th in the first)
I can see that you had -1ev in both. to get them exposed the same you may have had to make more adjustment

I like no.2 better although I would lose a lot of the top as I feel the 'overgrowth' is 'bearing down' on the rest of the picture.
Like Angelica I would go 1:1. I do edit quite a few to square these days and like the result (a bit tighter).Duncan

I'm out of sync here but I think composition-wise the second (portrait) mode is more appropriate
Some tweaking could be done but it's definitely portrait for me.
