  • Vulcan take off B&W

Taken friday at the Farnborough air show. Solid grey overcast almost all day which made getting any good images very difficult for me. Anyway here is our only airworthy vulcan bomber pulling up just after take off.

    Thanks for looking. ATB Martin

WOW I like this very much..

Don't suppose you have a hi-res version that you wouldn't mind me using as my desktop background do you?

I can only think of two problems with this... 1/ I didn't take it and 2/ it's a cracker.
It's not what inspires us that is important, it's where the journey takes us.

        Excellent shot. Very well captured.

Processing suits the subject very nicely. I've tried crops and can't see any improvement.

Would be very pleased with this; Wally hit the nail on the head.

Didn't get to go this year unfortunately so feel free to post more shots. That one is a stunner and excellent in B&W.

                Re: Vulcan take off B&W

Thanks to all for your kind words. The funny thing is the original colour version of this image was destined for the recycle bin as i could not see a way to get a useable version of it. In the end i decided to try a mono conversion and ended up with my favourite image from the day.

Garrie pm me your email address and you can have a copy at original resolution.

Again thanks for looking. ATB Martin

Smooth photo! I like the exhaust haze ripply-bits.

Hmm, looks good on the desktop, plenty of space, nice tones.

Simply superb, what a great idea to convert to B&W.

Jealous. That is a true corker. The heat haze left by the jets (for me) is what makes this shot. Did you enhance the heat haze in post processing by any chance?

                              Excellent. Unusual shot too.

Al Kaholik, you just HAVE to try and see one flying. There's nothing like it.
