Thanks Mark, I had three takers this year plus one spider who took up residence. Not quite sure of the bee's way of life, they do something in those holes which are blocked up by leaves. Hopefully get another batch next year, rent free.

No the building was a present from my daughter.....…………:-)

It's usually leaf-cutter bees.

Fascinating creatures to watch.

I've got some images somewhere of them building. Also of an ichneuman subsequently attempting to parasitise the larva within. Not very comfortable to watch, knowing what would happen if it succeed.

I took this photo some years ago before I had a teleconverter for the 300/4. You can see a bee with a piece of leaf clasped between its legs. The hotel has hardly been used in recent years, leaving me wondering where the bees have gone. We seem short of other insects, such as hoverflies, too.
