  • A little beauty!

My first shot of a Green Hairstreak butterfly, taken on Salthouse Heath. This is now my favourite butterfly, guess why?

A super shot of a beautiful butterfly. It must be a good year for them as one was reported at Strumpshaw Fen today. The only other sighting there was in 1989! I have never seen one.

We actually saw five on Salthouse Heath on 16/05/14 and it's the first time I've seen them. I guess Norfolk is a favoured location. What amazed me was how small this Butterfly is.

They are small and can be well camouflaged. It must be around 20 years since I saw and photographed them.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Good capture David. I too am among the crowd of people who have never seen one.
From what I read, the colonies can be as small as a dozen, so to see five is truly remarkable.

Excellent shot David. Northumberland iss not a great place for butterflies, I've certainly never seen one of these.

Gibraltar Point has good numbers of these.
