  • Wartime weekend

Another re enactment event last weekend at one of our local stations.

Took the OMD and used a mix of lenses, some interesting characters and scenes though and the weather was kind to us.

Another cracking set Ian. I swear some of those characters must be the genuine article from WW2 in some kind of a time warp. I agree with Chevvy that number two is a bit special. A terrific image.

Thank you all for the comments, it was a great day and everyone was having fun and was more than willing to have their photo taken.

Days like these really take away the frustrations of modern living and offer great photo opportunities.

So, how do you approach it at an event like this Ian? Do you suggest the poses or are they so used to it that they do it themselves? Whatever you do the results are excellent.

                          Hi Ron,

I always try and capture the subjects doing something natural rather than getting them to pose for me, the people at these events are natural extroverts and tend to drop into character easily and this makes it easy to capture images.

Occasionally I will get them to do an action that is in character for their dress style and often this produces the photo I want (having a laugh and a joke with them also helps).

Good for you Chevvy, it is on this weekend but alas we have other things to do and it also fiercely expensive!
