Are you sure that isn't a vinyl clutchbag, Chevvy?

    Interesting all the same.

Mark, its def. a Red Oriental Poppy - BUT I was chuffed to little mintballs with the capture of the "shiny/waxy" surface and I am still chuffed as it was with my E-1

The texture and sheen has come out wonderfully well. A very arresting shot. The first one for me I think.

Dan, Thank You for stopping by and your kind comments !

Mark, I was de-cluttering the loft ... and found a vinyl clutchbag may take a shot of it at the weekend ... to see if it comes out looking like an Oriental Poppy UM! I do think Designers get more than just colours and textures from our world - THIS IS so like a Lulu Guinness handbag I have seen ... will search for a shot !

That is such an unusual bloom - I, too, really like the first shot which is almost surreal.

              Regards,

                Re: Colour or Colour Popping

Ann1e, many thanks for stopping by and your valued comments ! It is quite surreal, and nothing sprayed on (I do often spray a water mix with Gylcerin to make globules).

Last year I managed five plants (from the 1 original plant in 2009) and I am hoping for more from the seeds this year - they only last 3 or 4 days per bloom - so not much time, especially of the light and weather are poor

                  Re: Colour or Colour Popping

I can't see much difference in colour intensity between the two images - just that the background of the second is darker.

How did you 'pop' the colours - did you do it in 'lab' mode and adjust the a, b and lightness curves, as I have done in the past?

Hi Jim, thanks for stopping by ! I used layers and Magic wand so taking a copy of the original, I masked out the red colour and overlay it - deleting the background byt not being red does that make sense !

I think I need to take the other poppy stalk out by cloning it ...

I does make sense, but is not 'colour popping' as I understand it.

The technique I use is here:

                      http://www.flickr.com/groups/techniq...7594133492563/

Using it gives the following result - 'punching' up the red. (I didn't bother with masking the background after).

Jim, WoW yes that has blown up the colour !

There are lots of ways of turning an image mono but having one colour in an object ! I did not want to actually "change" the red of the flower or its texture in mine !
