  • Can't wait - gotta go!

I'd been playing with f2.2 and flowers when this little fellow turned up. He didn't have time to wait for me to get more depth of field, but jumped off. Cute, though. Maybe he'll be there tomorrow?

I think it's my reflection in it's eyes. This is a really heavy crop. 1280x 879 left...

I think that too. Although more DoF could have been nice, you have already focused on the most important part.

Re: Can't wait - gotta go!

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone! I think it's so cute (for a spider). I have no idea which species it is, it's less than a cm long. They move in jumps, so here one moment - gone the next! Thankfully we have only harmless spiders in Norway .

Although the DOF is shallow, I was lucky that the focus is symmetrically OOF, I mean that the leg pairs are similarly OOF and the main eyes are sharp. Pure luck, as I'd had a glass of wine

I'm experimenting with shallow DOFs and macro this holiday, trying to get used to the feel of isolating things with focus. As someone who has worked mostly with landscapes, my first impulse was that I would have wanted a bit more depth of field for this one, so it's interesting to note you all don't agree.

Great shot Cathrine, spot on focus and amusing composition
Which lens? Presumably the sharp little weapon that is the 50 f/2?
