  • Let's kill some myths

It does get cold in Oz - only hit 9 degrees in Canberra today.

Pic of the snow on the moutains as I drove to work.

But then in about 3 months it will be quite warm and by mid-summer 36 degrees.

    9 degress - positively tropical

Like the moody clouds contrasting with the brightly lit foreground.

Christmas Day in 1991 at Frenchmans Bay near Albany was so cold and wet the locals had to barbeque under tarpaulins.

Sounds just like an English summer!

Terry, what a drive, and nice work if you can get it, as the punters say.

We were contemplating a drive over The Divide from Wang to the Coast in August ... have never driven that route, would you know if we would encounter problems in a non 4WD?

                  Thanks for your comments.

Mark it depends where you want to cross the Divide and where you want to come out at the coast.

Merimbula would be Ok but up this way August could present difficulties - there could be too much snow. But I regularly drive my Honda Euro up through the mountains - after checking on conditions as I don't mind getting mud on it. Never tried mid-winter mind you.

Thanks - we will be driving a Honda Jazz, Merimbula would be great.
Best I get back to you in August for some local knowledge, Terry.

Hmmm. 9 Degrees in winter is pretty cold, yeah!

I've just spent a few days as far north as you can go in Norway. 3-4 degrees on a sunny day in mid-summer - how does that sound? And 2 degrees in the sea!

Lovely shot, beautifully exposed! Wish I had that view on the way to work. (Actually - wish I worked in Oz )
