  • 1st proper trip out with the shiney new cam

For some reason I have't been inspired to go out recently, dull gray weather I reckon. But today the forecast was okish and I had to head up into the County anyway, to sort out a gutter which was pouring water down the front door of out cottage.

    A few shots:

Driving up the Coquet Valley, the light was irresistable:

then an hour's walk to this place in the depths of Holystone Woods

And the Ottercops, a radio thingy on top of the bleakest moor around.

#1,2,3 are lovely - and the light in the first two irresistible, as you say.

Lovely series of shots John. Love the light in the first two but the third shot, of the waterfall, is really nice

              Cheers all.

              Paul,

It's an E-5, and it's beginning to live up to expectation as I get used to it. There is certainly more detail, I'm looking forward to getting out on a still day when the treetops aren't being blown around .

Love the light in 1 and 2 but number 3 wins it for me, a real 10/10.

Some tremendous lighting there, as well as fine compositions. Whether its your PP skills I don't know, but the improved detail seems of the E5 seems clear to me from these images.
                    Nice set.

I'd be intersted in your,or any one else's views.

I find with the E5 I can pull back a lot more highlights and am not as worried about blowing highlights than I was on the E3.
I know most prefered is to expose to the right of the histogram but I was alway a bit worried about this on the E3.

The more I use the E5 the better it seems.

My E3 is at the moment out with another forum member on loan to try out with a view to a sale.

                        It's as easy as 1,2,3 !

Those are my favourites, too. The light was absolutely sublime. Top pics!

That's exactly what I've found. The DR is definitely better than the E-3.

Those pics have had some light sharpening after reduction. Where I get the focus/dof right the detail on the images is excellent.
