Re: Flickr gone **** up on my Ipad

When Flickr was sold and changed it's model I didn't take up the kind suggestion to pay. I was a fan and user but thought I'd wait and see if the 'promises' of a much better product actually came good.

Just recently I have been locked out of my Flickr accounts (I have two - one for paintings, one for photos) on my desktop. That was caused by the change to yahoo email logins - which involved the yahoo verification process (always a joy). Eventually, I solved it myself, after the suggestions provided by support made it a whole lot worse. I nearly abandoned Flickr at that point as the technology is still very flakey and is not helped by Apple and their 'new' updates and 'policies' which over-rule my own decisions and seem to forget 'remembered' passwords and logins routinely. At that point I was reliant on my ipad version which soldiered on logging in even when I had changed passwords on the account ( - nice and secure that...).

Flickr still works for me on the ipad (I can only see one account there because that is how the app works). And I will await my ipad being perfectly functional but too out-of-date to run Flickr. It is already too old to run a number of apps. Many from organisations that don't need to add to Apple's profits and our landfill crisis (take a bow BBC for the 'sounds' app - currently other BBC apps still function but they can't resist twiddling for ever...). I have other apps that cannot be updated (because I have an old ipad).

So I sympathise with you. But it is all our own fault. If we don't get our wallets out and throw away this perfectly functional hardware so that we can have an identical looking new perfectly functional ipad then we must be just plain stupid. (or just spending that money to update perfectly functional cameras and lenses maybe...)

Meantime every time I upload a new picture to Flickr it tells me that I will shortly be locked from uploads because I am nearing the limit. Which is very kind of them because I am just so forgetful. I did remove 2000 images to be under the limit, but they cant be expected to remember everything

Re: Flickr gone **** up on my Ipad

I sometimes find that photos on Flickr linked from posts here do not display at all, I just get an invitation to sign up which I have no intention of doing. Yahoo and its assoicated sites have become part of something called "Oath" which seems an appropriate name since I generally end up swearing one when presented with their cookie screens and the like. In fact these days I'm browsing a lot in private mode so that I know all the darned trackers and other nasties will get deleted as soon as I close the browser tab.

Newspaper sites seem to be some of the worst offenders, splashing a huge "Sorry for the intrusion" message over what I'm trying to read telling me how much better my browsing experience will be if I accept all their cookies and adverts! "Better" for them perhaps, but not for me!

Of course, these sites are free because of the adverts, but there comes a point where there is just too much advertising which interferes with the attempt to read the site's actual content. I'd far rather pay a small fee to get rid of the noise.
        Regards
        Richard

Totally agree with you, Otto, regarding the newspaper sites, it really is frustrating. They don't even remember that you've made your choice, they have to do it every time you visit.

I had reason to visit the 'Sky' site and I found that not only do you have the initial intrusion but every time you change to a different subject you get the cookie page over and over again .... and that's on the same site. I got off and vowed never to return. They are the losers.

I've since had my password & email logging in updated so it is no longer associated with Yahoo since it is now operated by SmugMug, although I noticed I didn't have to update it on my ipad though (through the web browser, which is Google Chrome that I use). At least I don't think I had to.

Think you might have caught something bad or your PC is failing in some way.

If you are running Windows 10 then it might just need a good clean up.

On my laptop I use Clean My PC and it is amazing to see how much junk I have collected over time. You can try it for free. Failing that as a minimum clear out your browser cache and run disk cleanup especially on your system files.

Even more reason to think there is something going on with your laptop.

I just tried logging out and back into Flickr using my browser it works fine.
