  • HELP! Bird feeders

I want bird feeders that have a glass tube for the seed. Much longer lasting and easy to clean. RSPB site no good.
The feeders I have have a polycarbonate tube, which is not so robust as glass and not so easy to clean.
Anyone know where I can get them?

    Re: Bird feeders

Can’t say I’ve ever noticed any glass ones. I regularly strip my plastic ones down and give them a good scrub, pop ‘em back together and good to go. I find it harder to find food that the birds eat all of instead of chucking out what they don’t like. Current stuff is pretty good in that respect but at the moment a whole (350mm?) tube gets demolished in a day and it’s getting expensive to keep full! Fallback is pre-grated cheese and currents - keeps the blackbirds, Robin and sparrows happy.

Are you sure that glass is more robust than polycarbonate? After all, riot shields are made of polycarbonate, not glass!

        Your feeders are probably polystyrene.

According to the RSPB where I got the feeders from, the tubes are polycarbonate. Riot shield are much thicker than the feeder tubes and my tubes are getting on.
