I think it was absorbed into the lumps.

When cooked properly (i.e thoroughly) those lumps behaved like miniature volcanic lava bombs.

I think to lump in (pun intended) cooking properly and school meals is an oxymoron of the highest order.

A friend of many decades often makes remarks, to staff, about a pub meal she has just consumed. She tries to add authority to what she says with "I used to be a chef". She was a Dinner Lady.

I think they are called 'Dinner Nannies' these days.

That reminds me of the story of a woman who liked to describe her husband's occupation as "something in the City". He was a dustman .

Re: Cabbage. Surely it should be within 25.4mm of its life until we leave then the poor thing will go back to being boiled to within an inch of its life!
As for a hard border one of my worries is my smart bus pass works in the north and south of Ireland at present will that change? (I can travel free from Belfast to Cork on the train at present).
If it does it will then be like it is now and not be acceptable in Great Britian, so much for a United Kingdom.

The bringing in of a hard border will not be much different to the average person than Police, Garda and Army road checks when visiting the south in the past.
Lorry drivers will be the main ones to suffer any hardships and hopefully the road network will allow lorry tailbacks to be avoided by car drivers.

Trivial matters count if only to keep us sane!

I quite agree, I wasn't making a value judgement, just reporting what she'd said.

Nice story too, something Hyacinth Bucket might say!

                        Getting back to Brexit:

The Irish border issue could be interesting if we leave without an agreement.

The EU would tell the UK to erect a border. The UK would remind the EU that we left so that they could no longer tell us what to do.

The EU would then tell the Republic of Ireland that it was their responsibility. I can't see them going along with that.

Stupid thing to do in the first place, getting into bed with that bunch!
(May had no choice, price she paid for calling for a stupid election when she did)

Why do we even bother with NI? Cut ‘em adrift, solve the problem.
