They have no legal right to be on a public footpath they are allowed on Bridleways boats (byway open to all traffic) and other permissive paths. The council rights of way office should be informed.

Pedestrian also have right of way over cyclists to on these types of route. As a mountain biker of many years I am aware of what rights cyclists have as in the early days many wanted mountain bikers banned from the hills.

Unfortunately there are more and more, who have developed a self centered attitude to life. We all see it, in almost every aspect of our interactions with each other. When it gets to the level of killing each other over a Disabled Parking Space the cracks in the breakdown in civilization are all too clear to see.

Overcrowd any creatures and the normal behaviors go out the window and violent interactions grow in frequency. It then comes down to survival of the fittest, which is probably what all these cyclist and joggers are preparing for.

Fortunately the peacekeepers are doing their bit to bring about harmony:

Which gives us time to sharpen the ground spikes on our tripods and practice synchronized walking aid swinging

Never mind wasting money on cycle lanes, how about filling in some of Lancashire's thousands of pot holes. Or are the councils waiting till they all merge into one. The state of the roads around Lancashire has become a joke over the past two years with the bad winters we have had. Please spend some of my hard earned taxes on making the need for an of road vehicle a necessity. My son cycles daily and says he is concentrating more on missing pot holes rather than watching other traffic users.

I think we notice the bad cyclists al the more, and it is the same where ever you go. I cycle in rural North Yorkshire and do my best to show courtesy to all other road users, horse riders included. Most motorised transport give me space and consideration bUt there is the few who cut me up, blow their horns, never dip their lights and behave with such a sense of entitlement to the road.

I don't buy we pay for the road and have more rights argument. No one has the right to abuse or put others at personal risk because they believe their subscription gives them the right to behave this way. Cyclists are not above the law and those who break the law should be punished as are users of motorised transport.

Re: What's upset you recently ?

We have a great cycle path made from granite slabs brought all the way from China to a town at the foot of the Mourne Mountain from which came the granite sets and kerbstones for most of Britian. It seems it is cheaper for the local council to import it?

Oh maybe I also should have said the cycle path is what we pedestrians call the footpath!! It is a one way main street and the usual comment when challenged about being on the footpath is the road is to dangerous; reference to the road being one way gets the response I am only going one way.

Last rant do expensive cars not come with indicators fitted?

The cycle lanes around here are used as parking spots for tourist who will then pull back onto the road without using their indicators or checking their mirrors and proceed to drive at 15 km/h below the speed limit before stopping to park on the cycle lane to look at more 'wildlife'. Wildlife being cows and sheep.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Why do the Post office need ID when I buy Euros? And why will my bus pass not do, it has the same pic on as my driving licence and passport.
If it is to stop money laundering, why do they not take details of where I live, my pass port doesn't have that info on it.
                        Its red tape gone potty!

Re: What's upset you recently ?

My wife's Passport photo is identical to the one on her +60 Oyster Card. I only took the one. The Passport is a new Bio type and the picture is much less clear than the Oyster. You have to provide a Passport Number or Driving Licence Number and a NI Number. But, as you say, they will not accept it...

If I'm asked for photo ID in Ontario I hand over my UK driving license, in the UK my Ontario driving license.

England Cricket, the commercialisation of Christmas, politicians, 'celebrities', an ulcer on my tongue, idiots who drive at dusk or in poor weather without lights, speeding motorists, my neighbour's dog, and thinking about it my dog too (bless him) The fact that I am not as familiar with my camera as I should be (therefore I am annoyed with myself) lower back pain. IT.

How is that for a start?
