  • HELP! What did I say wrong??

The wife and I were discussing a very dear friend, a 63 year old spinster, very attractive, who we have known for a long while - ever since I worked night shifts with her on the computers at a Stockbrokers back in the '80s

SWMBO asks me, lightly, if I ever fancied her. My reply was "no, she's a nice lady, but she's into cats and I prefer dogs. I like you better."

    What did I say wrong??

You were doomed from the moment the question was asked I'm afraid. Do not try and dig your way out... it will make things worse.

At least you avoided the Mrs Slocombe type innuendo. Could have been a lot worse.

It's not that you did anything wrong - the question is why did she have to ask the question in the first place? nudge nudge

As I have tried to convince my sons - both in their 30's but who have still not learned that it's easier to keep your mouth shut and never go on the offensive when her indoors asks questions such as this - the mysterious workings of the female mind are, like their hormones, something that is simply beyond the understanding or reason of we males........... whatever we say or do it will be wrong.

Well, we've just been out for lunch with said spinster. Luckily she's got a new man in her life. Phew! Luckily SWMBO gets on well with her. Luckily SWMBO knows I'm incapable of anything any more (if I ever was!).

So I'm still currently alive, with all bits intact - well, as intact as they were before.

It's not that you say anything wrong They just hear things in a different frequency and it all comes out deranged and insulting by the time they process it
