  • WANTED Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8

Still keeping getting the itch to try one of these against my 12-40mm
Sold a few bits lately so seems like a good time to scratch that itch before the cash gets spent on Eurostar fares.

Got one from Ebay, but had to return it because of particles right in the centre behind the front element.
Sure it would have been ok image wise, but if it doesn't work out it would have affected the ease and value of a resale

So if anyone can oblige please, prefer a Mk I mainly because of cost factor for what is only bit of an experiment.

    Thank you

I can't help you but if there is one lens in my collection that I will never part with, it is the 12-35mm Panasonic, mine was bought before the 12-40mm was introduced by Olympus. I've tried the 12-40mm but never considered swopping. One of my images taken with the 12-35mm and the EM-5 Mk 1 has just reached the top 50 images from over 20,000 entries in the 'Portrait of Humanity' photo comp. Hope this doesn't come over as bragging but the Panasonic lens is that good.

I recently got the 12-100mm f4 after using the 12-35mm and 35-100mm f2.8 pair for years. I haven't used the latter much recently, but will probably hang onto them for when I need wider apertures, and the 12-35mm is a brilliant lightweight and small general lens.

My 12-35mm has had minor dust particles from early on. I used to worry about it, but no effect on images. I think it must breathe quite a bit on zooming, and suck dust in then. It does have a little PF on contrasty skies with branches compared to the 12-100mm, but easily dealt with in LR.

It's a very lovely lens. It's small and the brilliance of Panny to standardize that filter thread size from 12-35/2.8 to 35-100/2.8 and 100-300. So you need only to invest in one set of filters covering that whole range.

It's going to be a long wait. I waited more than a year to get mine.

There are loads about, but its about getting the right one.
As in no or light dust at a sensible price that can be resold if I prefer the 12-40
