Re: Lightroom 3 - 50% OFF TODAY ONLY
Lightroom is a completely different workflow - in my view it's much better and complements a traditional image editor like PaintShop Pro. Benefits - much more efficient at adjusting moderate to large numbers of images, non-destructive so there is no chance of accidentally editing a precious original, very wide range of image adjustments, excellent RAW process quality, etc.
But be warned, although the converted wonder how they did without it before because you have to think differently when using LR, you will almost certainly have to face a steep learning curve.
This is why I am considering the offer of workshops on Lightroom. It really helps to have someone flatten that learning curve for you.
By the way, if you have children at school (including primary school) or you are a teacher or student yourself, you can get very large discounts on Adobe (and Microsoft) software, maybe even better than today's Lightroom offer.

My apologies for not responding earlier but today was my CAB day so incommunicado. I am, I believe from a survey of not long ago, one of the oldest members of this group and I think I am now reasonably proficient.
Lightroom need not, in my view be as intimidating is perhaps Ian suggests although grasping the niceties is non-trivial. Buy a couple of good books e.g. Martin Evening or Scott Kelby (if you can tolerate his strange sense of humour) plus Victoria Bampton's "Missing FAQ", watch a few tutorials on Adobe TV. There is also a very valuable LR Forum
It is important to grasp its concepts and think about one's workflow.
If I had to live with just one bit of PP software it would be LR.

Re: Lightroom 3 - 50% OFF TODAY ONLY
I recently switched from PSE9 to LR3 for RAW processing and adjustment and I think it is terrific - very powerful and easy to use. The Adobe video tutorials are very good to get you going.
I have maintained my 15000 photo catalogue in PSE as I can't see the point of moving it - this gives me an extra step in the workflow, but is hardly a real problem.
The tools for selective adjustments and the noise control module alone make it worth the price - particularly on offer.
