  • Sigma 105mm F/2.8 macro - recommended?

    Hi,

I have offered my support in looking for a (most likely used) telephoto macro lens for a friend who is interested in macro photography, as a complement to the 35mm lens. I was first looking at the Sigma 150mm but these are rare and those I have seen have been offered at a price tag beyond budget.

What about the 105mm? I have read it is lightweight, sharp but has a reputation being slow to focus. I have also read it works fine with the EC14.

Can anyone on this forum confirm this?

Also, any idea what price would be reasonable?

    Thanks,
    Tord
PS camera body is E620, should that matter (thinking about the AF performance).

Can't confirm the ec14 compatibility, but as for a macro lens, its awesome.

      Thanks Danny,

These are excellent samples I must say. Makes me want to go for one of these lenses.

Since the files are stripped from EXIF may I ask if they were taken using E5? (which many of your other pictures on Flick seem to be).

Have you used the lens with the E620?
