  • HELP! AF issues with 50-200 SWD

    My 50-200 is not auto focusing on my E-30 nor my E-M5. What should I do??
    OM-D E-M1, OM-D E-M5, OM 10, 17mm f1.8, Panny Leica 25mm f1.4, OM 50mm f1.8, 45mm f1.8, Zuiko 7-14mm, Zuiko 50-200mm SWD, Lensbaby, Metz 44, Metz 50

    0. Check that the lens is correctly mounted and the locking button is out.

    1. Set camera to Manual Focus and see if Focusing ring will alter the focus.

    2. Check that all the contacts on the lens are clean.

    3. If you have Re-Set lens on shutdown turned on you should hear the lens move to infinity on switch off.

    If none of this works, take it off the body and examine it for damage. listen if any thing rattles inside when rotated in 3 axes.

      Also check that the mode for the shutter and AEL/AFL behaviour is set appropriately. I picked up an older camera a few days ago and was puzzled for a few seconds when auto-focus wasn't working on a half-press... then I figured out I'd changed the mode last time I used it.
