I currently use the MC 14 with my 300mm Pro lens and sometimes feel the need of a longer reach when birding. I intend to get one when they are available.

New MC 20 announced.
I see that Olympus have announced a new x2 tele converter, the MC 20. It will work with the 40-150 f2.8 Pro and the 300mm f4 Pro lenses. It will be available this summer.

Re: New MC 20 announced.
Maybe it will allow me to use my 40-150 f2.8 rather than buy a Panny 100-400. At ~300mm I'd guess the max aperture would be pretty similar. I wonder how quality will compare? My guess is it will be quite a bit cheaper than the Panny lens.

Re: New MC 20 announced.
It will be interesting to see how it performs. I have never been impressed with 2x converters. 1.4x seems to be the sweet spot. With the 300/4 being such a good lens it might be worthwhile, but I have my doubts about how good it will be with the zoom.Andy

Only one way to find out I guess Andy. Wonder if it will be on Test and Wow?

Re: New MC 20 announced.
It had to come eventually. Would be very interested, depending on image quality. The thought of an MC20 with the 300mm/f4 is quite something (600mm (1200mm - 35mm EFL)), even though at f/8

Well F/8 is, if not great, useable. Olympus for sure know what they are doing.

Wonder if they will have one to try at the Photo Show?

Re: New MC 20 announced.
Yes, the 2x Canikon converters are a bit rubbish, but modern design and glassware has apparently solved many of the issues, at a price, and the recent Sony and Panny versions have been pretty well reviewed. Some image degradation is measurable apparently, but how much if that is visible in real-life images is another matter.
