My MC-20 is in Dusseldorf, delivery on Tuesday.

If anybody is tracking an order from the Oly Store, the tracking in your acount>order overview is always one stage behind what shows on the UPS tracking link above.

Also, UPS's tracking after arrival in the UK at Stanford le Hope doesn't update in real time. Exactly the same happened as did with my last order, no further progress shows until 9:15 when I discover it left there just after midnight, and was on a van for delivery today some 6 hours ago. The last package arrived 15 mins after they updated to out for delivery, from their depot 22 miles in morning rush hour traffic.

Had my first try of the 2x with the EM1X and 300f4 pro 1/2000 f8 iso 1600 and shelduck 1/4000 f8 iso 1600 a bit of pp work on these but overall both burst of shots were good for BIF .

Impressive especially at iso3200 pault. I did some yesterday with it on my 40-150. Will post a few up later.

These are with the MC-20 on my 40-150.
The birds didn't want to come out to play but these damsels were quite obliging

I've cropped these about 30% before posting.

And the same shot as above but a bit closer with less post cropping maybe about 10-15%

The last two were shot at f5.6 and the first was at f7.1, all at iso640 and 1/1600s.

Those images are excellent Phil. I have only managed to to stage an image on a tripod using the 40-150 at 150mm no adaptor, 150mm with the 1.4 conv and 150 with the mc20. Having looked over the images I see little difference albeit the light was good. Very impressed with results.
I have to admit the 300 pro lens appears to be a very good match for the mc 20 judging from the images posted so far.

I suspect the MC-20 is a slightly better match for the 300mm timboo but as I don't have one I can't judge. I took these hand held down a fairly overgrown lane as I walked back from a local nature reserve having failed to get any decent bird shots. Not the gear's fault just no feathered action to shoot. I was pretty pleased how well the x2 worked out on the 40-150 at closer range though. These must have been about 3-4 feet away I'd guess. What I particularly liked was the nice way the combination rendered the oof highlights on the wings. I deliberately angled the last shots to catch the highlights to see how it came out.

As expected here’s a balanced, detailed and useful review from the excellent Oly wildlife photographer Petr Bambousek:

Thanks for the link Mark you are right it's a pretty sensible review. Many of the comments I can relate to already even though I've only used it twice so far. He said this about using it with the 40-150 " Many people hope to ‘not to have’ buy a much more expensive ‘three hundred’. Honestly, if you feel that you’ll achieve practically the same results then I got news for you – no, you won’t." he then said "On the other hand, if you do not have a comparison and you don’t have this lens in your inventory, then you will probably be very pleasantly surprised how great the TC 2x works." I'm definitely in this "pleasantly surprised" category so far. Close up detail does seem to be pretty good and I've been getting nice bokeh.
There were a couple of comments in his summing up I didn't understand ie.
+ despite it being a double converter, it is still very unobtrusive and you do not have to create a new place in the backpack for it (I have it on the 30mm/ 3.5 lens) - What's this lens?
+ inclination to the next aperture is superb (I personally did this only exceptionally because I was working with depth of field) - What does this mean?

He's not a native English speaker, of course.

I *think* he means it'll fit in the space that would be taken by a sort-of 35mm f3.5 lens (although I'd just have chosen an example from the existing m4/3 range!), and I *think* he means that stopping the aperture down one (click or stop, I'm not sure) gives superb optical results but causes problems because of the reduced light.

                          Maybe, anyway!

If you want to know about this or anything else, just message him on dpreview. When I was in the caribbean in the spring I asked him a question about possible rolling-shutter effects with silent shutter and hummingbird wings, and he responded immediately and very helpfully. 'No issues' was the sum of the answer, and he was right!

He's clearly a very nice guy.
                          Regards,
                          Mark

I've just given my MC-20 (that arrived minutes ago) a try out in the garden, and it definately makes focussing slower, is a bit harder to find the subject and I'm going to give it a BIF this afternoon to see how I get on with it! (I'm not very good with the MC 14 on the 300, so I'm a little worried about the MC 20!)
