  • Astro photo Lens decision.

Will be off again to Bromo for milky way photography on the 29th June..
Due to the hike and dust and etc (plus I am a year older and everything seems to be falling apart )

What should I pack for lenses? Camera, EM1.2 (As backup Stylus 1 or GX8)
Lenses, to go light, Laowa 7.5/2, Samyang FE, 12-35/2.8, 35-100/2.8 and Panny 100-300.

I will be leaving the 7-14, 12-40 and 40-150 Would I be making a BIG mistake?

I would love to bring everything but unfortunately the airline only allow 7kgs handcarry and 15kgs checkin. I am not risking any lenses or laptop in the checkin but that tripod is going into the hold.

I'm with Mark, although leaving the 7-14 behind does seem a bit odd. Maybe the Lowa can cover all your wide angle needs I've not tried one to know how good it is. If the three Oly lenses plus the Lowa is under your weight limit then that would be my suggestion.

40-150 is not going with me. that is way over my weight limit.

Now, Should I swap out that 12-35 for that 12-40?
Laowa 7.5/2 would be a 1 stop brighter than 7-14.

yes..great lens but the weight. I stick with the 35-100 and 100-300. both are just a tat heavier than the 40-150.

For astro shots, you are well covered with what you suggest.
I guess the majority will be wide field anyway so no need for the 40-150 on this occasion.

About the weight limit, there is actually a way to bend it. They only weight the bags but not the things you carry. So you just need a coat with huge pockets while boarding. Something like this (just a random google page) : https://www.carryology.com/travel/is...graphy-jacket/
