It seems it's all been sold so no longer of much interest and, as a FB item, of no interest whatever as I don't and never will use that service.

Well I've received and unpacked a package and all seems to be complete and - from my first play, in working order. He seemed an utterly genuine seller too, a wildlife photographer. Spoke to him by phone as part of "due diligence" and checked his website, LinkedIn, Facebook etc.

Never expected to be able to afford E-M1 ii. Not sure I have a use for another E-M1 i, nor for the grips, so I might be selling on. Guess I should test everything first. (Feels almost wrong to get more cash, but he seemed to be more bothered about getting shot of them quickly than maximising price so he didn't have a cupboard full of even more forgotten kit).

First play with E-M1 ii seemed to do nothing and give nothing on image capture viewing. Then I noticed the dial was on something called C1. Put dial on A and it works ... and I seem to have captured hundreds of images when I was trying to make it work on C1. I shall have to read the manual ...

              Feeling very lucky :-)

As Andy says, congratulations indeed. Much as I dislike and never use FB it's refreshing to see somebody obtain an excellent result from it's use.

Not sure I deserve to be congratulated; I was lucky. But I am happy. Now need to try to understand the menus!

If I am not mistaken, the seller was Joe Knapman, a very good wildlife photographer. Look on the Olympus Users Facebook Wildlife Photography site to see his stuff. He seems to spend a lot of time in Africa..............

Re: Someone got a good deal!

You're not mistaken. (Though to start with, given the seemingly too-good-to-be-true price, I was wondering if it might be some scammer masquerading as him.)

Not sure I'm going to exploit every nook and cranny of the enhanced functionality of the Mark ii, but many features including the better IBIS, extra pixels and more accurate AF will be an asset for sure.

Not quite sure whether I'd derive any benefits from grips. Compactness is a virtue in many contexts I think, and changing batteries is not arduous ...

A lot of learning to do now. I never imagined being owner of one of these. I must try to do it justice. (Wondering if I need a high performance SD card. Probably not as I don't really do sport. I know it's not all about kit; it's about giving time to getting out there, noticing, composing, shooting, and honing my skills and tastes. And maybe sharing a few images too.

The mk2 is a stunning camera. I am sure that the EM1X is too, but the built in grip is a big turn off for me.

Congratulations indeed Rob that was a great deal and very good to know it was a genuine sale. Even if you don't sell anything on then you probably paid less than the Mk2 was worth for the whole lot.

Found a buyer for my HLD-9 without trying (a wanted ad here). I didn't use it until testing it before sending. HLD-7 seems to have low value nowadays. And I don't really need the extra EM-1. I'm not a trader by nature, but no point in hoarding ...
