E-410 Lens/Mount Query

Bought my first DSLR (E-410) last week and have managed to get using it today

Great camera, however when either of the two standard lenses are fitted there seems to be very very slight movement from left to right - is this the norm, and does anyone elses do the same.

Noticed it on the 150mm when turning to the extents, the lens moved slightly and the angle of the lens seemed to move very slightly also (using tripod at the time to try and photograph a robin in the garden).

Any comments help appreciated.

Hi John -

I have similar with both kit lenses when fitted to the E-510. It has not posed any problems and I guess that's the way it is.

It would be interesting to hear comments from others though.

No, it's quite normal. Practically all bayonet style lens mounts have a small amount of play.
Only the old Canon FD breech mount - which had a mount collar that tightened the mount - was play-free in my experience.

Mine seem to be OK on all my cameras. I've not come accross this before on digital or my OMs.

Had this on my E400 and now my E510, not a problem.

Thanks for all your posts and help.

Was worried camera was not right once you reached extents of wide or zoom angle with it moving slightly in the mount.

Now just need some decent weather to get out snapping with my first DSLR.
