  • HELP! E-pl7 - vs. - e-p5 - iq

How the E-P5 compares to the E-PL7 in terms of image quality, color, noise, dynamic range, etc.?

I doubt you could tell them apart. If they don't have exactly the same sensor, then it must be pretty close.

Anything from the original OMD onwards will be very similar. Only the EM-1 seems to have a different sensor (Panasonic, not Sony) - that's been done to death on other forums, but for all practical purposes there's very little difference.

If you're looking at the Olympus sale of the E-P5 (very cheap in the US, at the moment), then bear in mind it has far better IBIS - that can make a bigger difference to your photos. Otherwise, the E-PL7 is excellent value.

I use an E-P5 as my "walk about" system. It really works well and the twin control wheels suit my needs perfectly.

E-PL7 has TruePic VII whereas E-P5 only has TruePic VI.
I am not sure how much difference that will make?

While the E-P5 is the current "flag ship" PEN, I expect to see something new this year.

That may well see a few E-P5s up for sale.

Well, I have an E-P5 I could sell, it has extremely low shutter count (I can advise exactly if required) it's in black and like new. Also have a VF4 for sale.
