  • Pany 100-300 hand held result...

This was my first outing with the 100-300on the EM5 at paintballing, I have been trying to get this type of image for five years, thanks to the speed of the focus after the 1.5 update I captured this...its not easy to get this type of shot but I doubt if I would have got something this sharp with the 70-300 4/3rds I had before. Hand held ISO1600 1/250th f4.1 at 108mm

That's an impressive capture! Did you have the camera on burst mode? And did you use in-lens or in-body stabilisation?

In lens off but using in camera stabilisation on (as recommended on here I read recently) and yes but the 4+ frames per second and not the 9....

I have another camera that takes 60 frames per second at 12Mp but it would not have given this result with limited zoom and a sesnor no way as good as in the EM5!!

Considering the conditions you got remarkable accuracy of focus and sharp too. you must be pleased!

I've just realised that what I thought was a little light reflection off the googles is in fact an exploding paint ball - amazing!

Yes I am also convinced the 1.5 update improved the speed to such an extent as to allow for such a shot

And the Black Bear claws are for close combat?
Glad you got the shot you were after for so long. It's impressive!

He's wearing fancy dress for paintballing? Bizarre

Seriously though a fantastic shot, well captured. The distance the paint splatter has moved in 1/250th of a second indicates those paint balls are going at a heck of a rate, don't think I'd want to be on the receiveing end.

I think you're right, the firmware update has improved the focus speed with the EM-5/100-300. I was out with mine today and felt it was working faster.

                    Regards.

Excellent shot. Couple of people have passed comment that the Panny lens was next to useless.
I wonder if it's them or the lens?

I think it is an excellent shot too.

The lens comments might be based on the delay that occurs when it is stopped down as the aperture blades can't keep up with the high shutter speed capabilities of the E-M5. The lens looks great to me & is on my wish list.
