From what was said at todays Olympus event, there are likely to be some very special deals on the outgoing MKii.

Obviously they were neither denying nor confirming the rumour that there is an E-M5iii, nor that it will be announced on 17th.

At least this looks to be an answer to all those people complaining that Oly had abandoned its roots by not producing small cameras any more. It remains to be seen what they'll say about the cost, of course.

I don't think it was ever realistic to expect a sensor upgrade over the M1ii, but it is surely a shame they didn't produce it 6+ months ago.

How well it CAFs will be interesting. If it was roughly as good as the M1ii for large, nearby targets I might be interested in getting one at some stage for low-impact street photography and travel. I'd need to trade in my Fuji against it and perhaps also my GM5, and even if I did that I'd probably need to wait until one came up s/h.

"Full specs" leaked apparently.


USB charging is nice - as is Phase Detect and Contrast Detect - nothing much else jumps at me.

Yes, usb charging is another advantage for a compact travel camera.
