Thanks for the heads up, duly updated. Always amazes and delights me how much Olympus carry on improving their cameras with firmware updates.

I too am really pleased with these updates. However, I wonder if the E-M1 support will continue when the Mk2 is official on sale..............

Thanks Paul. However there is nothing of use to me in the update so I will wait to see how others get on with it. I agree that it is very good to see that Olympus are continuing to provide updates for an all but discontinued camera. Very impressive.

We'll keep getting compatibility with new lenses & flashes etc, up to a point.

I'm surprised it wasn't included in this update since all other Pro lenses are included & I'll be even more surprised if it isn't included in a further update.

I'd have been very surprised if focus stacking for the 12-100mm had been included in this update because it is not listed for the Mk2! The list is:

                    Compatible with :
                    M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro
                    M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO

Having updated, I find that my E-M1 locks up if I try to use focus stacking with the 300mm. Anyone else?

Have you tried it with the 300mm Focus Limiter set to 1-4m option (i.e. For use just with the closest focus range)? I haven't checked to see if there are any limitations but I'd assume with that lens that using the full focus range could be rather challenging? Other than that can't think of any obvious things to check.
                        Regards

I haven't got the 300mm (yet...) but does the update wipe the custom settings still, or have Olympus got that sorted now?

Minor updates won't change settings (from 4.0 to 4.2 in E-M1) but the settings can only be saved to a PC with the Mk II only (with the latest updater). Also, it is unlikely anymore major updates will come for the E-M1 now so settings won't be lost then.

                              Thanks Ross,

None of the reported gains of the update are that important to me, so I don't have to rush to update my camera. But it's good to know that it'll be a simple task when I get round to it.
