      Re: EM-1 Update

I've updated mine (took 7 minutes to download) & everything seems fine. Apparently there are some saying there might be issues, such as problems during Focus Stacking with the F4 300mm lens & also Keystone Compensation. I've tried both with my 40-150 Pro lens (with MC14) & both seem to be fine. In fact, I was hand holding the gear for Focus Stacking & it still combined the images, even though there was some movement. I hadn't tried Focus Stacking on that lens beforehand though, being only a few weeks old & not seeing any need for it so far.

          Re: EM-1 Update

I see that 43rumors.com are reporting problems with v4.2:

As reported by many readers (including Pen And tell and Denjw) the 4.2 firmware update for the E-M1 contains a major bug on. It locks down and creates corrupted images when using those functions:
          – Focus Stacking
          – Keystone
          – HDR
          – Starlight mode
So please do not install the firmware. Or if you already installed it don’t use those functions until Olympus will release a bug fix (hopefully soon).

So, it could be as well to delay updating unless you REALLY need it?

I've just tried focus stacking with the 40-150 Pro and it locks up in the same way as the 300mm. Ho hum...

I think that you will find that differences in magnification are more of an issue than framing with hand-held stacks.

Apparently there is another scenario that can cause it to show up.

According to Reinhard Wagner from the German Oly forum, the bugs occur if RecView (display of the image right after the shot) is disabled.
                I don't have mine disabled.

Better enable it (RecView) to 0.5 sec if you want to perform those other functions then!

Thanks for that. It may save others from heartache. For myself, because I have Record View enabled (to 0.5 sec) I am not having any problems. I have also tried video with the 40-150 Pro lens without issue & now, the other function reported to have issues, Hand-held Starlight.

Here's a shot out to my backyard with it.

                            Hi
I've now tried "rec view" set to 0.3 sec and all seems to work correctly. So it seems its on;y when 'rec view" is set to 'off' that problems arise.
                            Hope this helps

Out of interest, the updated firmware to the EM-5 v2 all seems to work OK, the problems as with EM-1. do not occur with "rec view" at zero.
