  • adapters for E-P1

I have just seen the price of the two adapters to allow ZD and OM Zuikos to be used on the new E-P1.
    150 each!
These are mental prices, 150 to allow me the pleasure of using my 7 50mm f1.8 OM on Olys latest camera. I am sure that the Far East clones will be out soon for about 15. As for the ZD adapter these should be given free with the E-P1, just as the Oly OM was with the E-1 when it first came out.

The Panasonic G1 to 4/3 adaptor is about the same price. I think the Oly version permits the use of a wider range of ZD lenses and teleconverters, how much of this is down to the camera and how much to the adaptor I don't know.

OM fit lenses just need a cheap and cheerful adaptor to 4/3 once you have the MFT to 4/3 adaptor (on G1 anyway) though no doubt it is nice to have the official version.

On the G1 MFT to various other systems adaptors are available as passive mechanical only adaptors, M42, Leica screw and M, etc etc. All work OK. Typically 30 - 60

As a matter of interest I just bought a ZD-G1 adapter from B&H for 80. Delivered from New York to Edinburgh next day!! Still expensive, but not quite as much a rip-off!

The Olympus and Panasonic Four Thirds to Micro Four Thirds adapters are identical apart from the paint job.

Does anyone know of a cheap source of Canon FD to microFT adaptors? I am sure I saw a reference to one such for about 20 but i can not find it now.

          thanks in advance

            Re: adapters for E-P1

I have recently obtained the adaptor from Olympus to allow the use of four thirds lenses on the ep1. the other evening I fitted this and coupled it with the fourthirds 9-18 lens. After taking a couple of shots I found the playback feature did not respond. I shut the camera down but no response on restarting. I removed the battery and re inserted it with the same result I then removed both the battery and the memory card-re inserted them no change! I switched the camera off and later took another picture and it worked fine though after a couple more pictures the play back stopped working again. Any pictures I had taken were all there but just couldn't review them. Has anyone else come across this???

I've tried this combo (and others) on my E-P2 without suffering any problems, so I don't know what the answer is. Just a long shot, but has your 9-18 the latest firmware?

                Hi Dave,

I got the Olympus adaptor for 126 from SRS Microsystems. It's working a treat.

The free adapters are also available outside the UK. I got the same offer from Oly and I applied for mine today. I had to send the paperwork to an address in Germany.
