  • E-M1 Level on Half-Press

OK, first question regarding my newly acquired E-M1. When using the EVF and half-pressing the shutter button to focus, the exposure compensation scale also turns into the level gauge. Any way to disable this, as I find it extremely annoying!

Apart from this, setup was straightforward (having used the Oly menu system since 2005!) [emoji4]

Yup. Menu - Cogs I (EVF) - Half Way Level.

I would like to claim I remembered it But actually just did a search in the manual for level.

Thanks, John. Being a man I don't do manuals, and definitely not Olympus manuals! [emoji2]

Update: My Mk 1 is actually Menu > Cogs > J > Half Way Level.....

If I understand you correctly, pressing the info button will change the level guauge to a histogram. Press it again and you will have no bells and whistles at all. Another press will just give you the camera settings, ie exposure Iso etc................

Yes, that's right, I've just checked.

.....yes, but this the same as continually pressing the INFO button. This won't disable the Auto Level in the EVF which has to be done from the cogs menu as John pointed out.....

I must be missing something here. I have the Auto Level disabled in the cogs menu, but can still activate it on the EVF using the info button.

Yes, and that's correct, but it's not Auto Level. You have the option to enable it or not using the INFO button...... Auto Level just appears when you half press the shutter button irrespective of INFO button presses.

If you go cog D > Info Settings > LV Settings then you'll have the Level option enabled in Custom 1 or 2. If you untick here you won't have the Level using the INFO button any more.....
