Merrygill Viaduct, Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. This formed part of the old Stanmore line which connected Darlington in the east with Tebay on the WCML, passing through Winston, Staindrop, Barnard Castle and Kirkby Stephen passing over the Pennies at Stainmore Summit. This line was sadly closed in 1962 in an act of short-sighted governmental vandalism.
